Come join the Michigan Energy Forum on Thursday April 5 as we discuss the role of nuclear energy in Michigan and abroad in addressing global climate change. Panelists will include representatives from industry, academia, and the State who will share their views of the role that nuclear energy should play to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate economic development opportunities. While nuclear energy can be a very controversial topic, the purpose of this forum is to discuss the science, economics, and risks and rewards of nuclear energy and to learn more about what is going on in Michigan. Please join us on April 5 for this exciting forum.

About the Panelists:

Kevin Krause - Michigan Public Services Commission

Kevin Krause works in the Regulated Energy Division of the Michigan Public Services Commission focusing on rate base, net operating income, and depreciation issues.? Kevin has been with the MPSC since 2009.? He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan.? Before joining the MPSC, Kevin held numerous positions including working as a nuclear engineer for B&W Fuel Company in Lynchburg, VA.

Peter Smith - Detroit Edison Company

Peter Smith is the Director, Nuclear Development-Licensing and Engineering for Detroit Edison Company.? In this capacity, he has overall responsibility for obtaining Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval of Detroit Edison?s combines license application for a potential new nuclear power plant at the Company?s Fermi site near Monroe, Michigan.? Mr. Smith has over 30 years experience in the commercial nuclear industry.? He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Military College in Canada and an M.S. in Engineering Sciences from the University of Toledo.?

About the Moderator:

William Schikora - William Schikora PLLC, Environmental Law

Bill Schikora has been practicing environmental law in Michigan for more than 15 years.? He was a partner at the Dykema Gossett Law firm before starting his own practice in December 2010.? Bill focuses his practice on remediating and redeveloping contaminated property and assisting manufacturing clients buy and sell businesses with legacy environmental issues.? Bill is a founding member of the Michigan Energy Forum and has been involved with helping Michigan businesses and entrepreneurs identify and develop opportunities in the alternative energy space.??
